Anti-Bullying Week

We started Anti-bullying week by wearing our odd socks to show we are all unique and to celebrate our individuality, then each year group completed some activities to learn more about bullying.

Year 6 looked at some of the reasons behind bullying and how differences can often be the root cause of it. We discussed how religion is one of the big differences in people across the world and how it can upset the harmony between different groups. We linked this to some recent work we have been completing in RE around icons. We looked at Sikh icons and symbols and created some artwork to show this. Following this we compared our Sikh icons with Christian ones. We looked at the similarities and differences between them and discussed how building our knowledge of differences makes us more accepting of them. 

In Year 1, we acted out some scenarios where someone was unkind and the children identified ways to resolve the issue. They used speech and thought bubbles to annotate their work.

In Reception, we watched and listened to the Anti- bullying  song with Andy and talked about how we are all  different and unique and we should be proud of ourselves for being who we are!

In Year 3, we started by watching a video linking to what anti bullying week is. Following on from this, we then had class discussions linking to bullying and how everyone is different. Then  the children then had the opportunity to design their own pair of odd socks to symbolise how everyone is different! 

In Year 4 we discussed the differences between being unkind, teasing and bullying. We thought about how someone might feel pressured into bulling someone else and where the pressure might come from in different scenarios. We role played these scenarios in class. 

We created our own odd socks for a display outside our classroom. This shows how we are all unique and individual but come together as a class.
