Last Friday, we participated in a fantastic day of football at the Girls’ Football Festival in Cowes, where 15 teams from across the Island came together for a brilliant celebration of the game. With the overall winners progressing to the Hampshire round, the standard of competition was incredibly high throughout the day.

We faced strong opposition in the group stages, playing against Freshwater, Newchurch, Godshill, Newport, Barton and Nettlestone. The girls showed great determination and teamwork, finishing with an impressive record of 1 win, 4 draws and just 1 loss, which was enough to see us progress to the next round. Our goal in the group stage came from Ruby — a fantastic moment for the team!

In the quarter-final, we met Carisbrooke, who had narrowly defeated us in the cup just before half term. The team were determined to rise to the challenge and produced an immense defensive display. Chloe made an incredible save to keep the scores level in a tense contest. We then found our breakthrough when Cailtin delivered a brilliant cross into the box and Penelope finished first time into the goal — a superb team goal at a crucial moment!

The semi-final saw us face Barton in a highly entertaining and closely fought match. Despite a tremendous effort from every player, we were narrowly defeated 1–0.

It was a truly enjoyable day filled with great football, teamwork and resilience. We are incredibly proud of all the girls for their effort, attitude and sportsmanship — they represented our school brilliantly from start to finish.

Well done to everyone involved!
