Hampshire Basketball

After qualifying all the way back in February, our Year 6 basketball team travelled to Southampton to compete in the county finals - a fantastic achievement in itself!

The tournament featured a different style of play than our team was used to, with matches played in a 3v3 format, attacking just one hoop. Despite the unfamiliar rules, our players quickly adapted and got stuck into the action. Although we narrowly lost our opening game, the team responded brilliantly with a three-game winning streak, delivering some truly impressive attacking basketball.

Our run was halted by the eventual winners of the tournament. We were only one point behind at half-time and gave them one of their toughest games of the day.

Our strong group-stage performance earned us a place in the afternoon quarter-finals, where we faced the top-ranked team from the other group. It was a closely fought contest, but we just missed out on a place in the semi-finals.

We then played a positional match against fellow island side Queensgate in a thrilling showdown that went to golden goal. Our team held their nerve and came out on top, capping off a fantastic day with another exciting win.

By the end of the tournament, we had secured sixth place out of sixteen teams - an outstanding result. A huge well done to all involved!
