IOW Construction Roadshow (for girls)

We were delighted to host the IOW Construction Roadshow at The Bay CE School today. It was an incredible day dedicated to challenging stereotypes and showcasing the amazing careers available to girls in the construction industry.

Students from across the island including; The Bay CE School, LIFT Ryde, The Island Free School, Carisbrooke College, Medina College and Lionheart School came together to explore the full lifecycle of a construction project.

From planning and design to the finishing touches, our students got hands-on with some fantastic workshops:

⚡ Pre-build: Designing subsea cable routes with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks. 

🏠 On-Site: Engineering mini truss roofs with Captiva Homes and setting up site layouts with Crownpark.

 🚧 Finishing Touches: Testing erosion and infrastructure with Island Roads and exploring housing development with Sovereign Network Group.

It was inspiring to see so many young women engaging with real-world challenges, learning about local growth sectors, and discovering their own potential in this vital industry.
