Today we had the final game of the boys’ football season with a replay of the Year 7 boys’ final v Lift Ryde away.

Todays game was always going to be a tough test due to the amount of quality players that Ryde have at this age group, but the boys started strong and the game was in the balance at 1-0 to Lift at half time.

Going out into the second half saw the goal of the season scored by Captain George followed by another with his weaker left foot on the volley. The game ebbed and flowed with Ryde taking the lead at 3-2 with 10 minutes to go, only for the Bay boys to never give up and get a fantastic equaliser from Zak. The Bay could’ve nicked a winner at the end with a couple of half chances and the same with a free kick from Ryde, but the final whistle blew finishing 3-3 and nothing between the teams.

Unfortunately for The Bay, we missed out this time on victory, losing 4-3 by a single penalty in a shootout.

Congratulations to Ryde on their win; very worthy winners.

Huge credit to the boys this season. Their commitment to training sessions every week from September to December has been outstanding and testament to their hard work and love for the game! The boys were distraught after the game and it just showed how much representing the school means to them! We go again next season!
