T20 Cricket Game

Some of our lucky Year 5 and 6 pupils recently enjoyed an unforgettable day out, attending a special T20 cricket match between Ventnor and Hampshire in celebration of Ventnor Cricket Club’s 175th anniversary.

The day began with a brilliant session of Diamond Cricket, where our students had the amazing opportunity to play alongside members of the Hampshire squad- including a former South Africa international player! The Hampshire players were hugely impressed by the talent and enthusiasm shown by our children.

Afterwards, we took our places to watch the main match, with the students thoroughly enjoying the fast-paced action and cheering from the sidelines. Just when the day couldn’t get any more exciting, Hampshire cricketer Nick Gubbins offered an incredible surprise: inviting some of our students to join him on the pitch to field during the match! This saw the children step onto the field in front of the crowd. A special mention goes to Eli, who made a fantastic stop to deny Ventnor a boundary, earning a huge cheer from the spectators!

Our students represented the school superbly throughout, with excellent behaviour on full display. Well done to everyone involved- we’re so proud of you!
