U10 League Semi Finalists

Recently, our Year 5 boys team have been competing in the knockout stages of the league. Our quarter final fixture saw us host Haylands. From the off, we battled well, looked solid defensively and dangerous in attack. Due to the game being 7 aside, we had three substitutes and were having to change the team constantly, with the boys having to play in an array of different positions. They all stepped up to the challenge, and there were impressive performances all across the pitch. We found the lead in the dying minutes of the game, with a fantastic finish from Charlie to put us into the next round.

For the semi-final, we travelled to Gurnard, where we faced a strong team. Gurnard found the opener through a wonder strike from range, which crashed into the top corner. The boys were not phased, and quickly found the equaliser when Charlie's corner found Josh P in the box, who was able to produce a smart finish to make it 1-1. It was a very tightly contested game, which looked like it could go either way. We defended fantastically, with some brilliant tackles and saves, keeping the game at 1-1. We nearly found a winner when Joseph's drop kick flew down the field, bouncing just over the bar. With penalties looming, Jackson found himself 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, and slotted the ball in with a composed finish. We continued to defend valiantly until the final whistle, which saw us come out 2-1 winners and into the final! Well done boys.
