U11 Hampshire Football Finals
On Friday, after the success in their last tournament the previous week, the U11 girls were invited to play in the Hampshire School Games Football Competition at the Stoneham complex. The team knew going into this competition that the standard would be high. In the morning, they played in the seeding rounds, and they won 3, drew 1, and lost 1. This meant the girls finished 3rd in the group, and gained them a place in the afternoon’s Super League.
In the afternoon, the girls stepped up their performance as they were now playing the top teams from the morning round. They came away with 2 wins, and 3 draws, leaving them joint top of the group. In the semi-finals the girls played a very strong Weeke School, where they lost 2-1. The team played St Faith in the 3rd place play off, they conceded very early in the game but the girls were determined to get more from the game, it was the best they had played all day, and were rewarded with a Neve hattrick to ensure the girls took home the bronze medals.
It was a brilliant day, and a great experience for the team. It is an outstanding achievement coming 3rd in Hampshire against some very strong opponents. Well done girls you did yourselves and the school very proud!
