It was an amazing afternoon today at Medina College where we took part in the U16 IOW Schools rugby tournament for the first time since covid 3 years ago.

The lads did the school proud finishing 2nd in our group after a win against Free School, a draw against Medina and a loss against Ryde School.

We then went on to play in the 3rd/4th place play off which we lost against CTK after losing a few players to injury and fatigue.

Some fantastic rugby was played by both the forwards in the scrum, rucks and mauls as well as some powerful running and skilful attacking play by our backs. Our tries were scored by Lewis S (2), Tommy Y, George F and Owen C.

To come 4th place out of 8 teams with an inexperienced team is a huge testament to the togetherness and determination by our lads today.

Thanks to the referees and organisers of the event. It was great to see over 100 u16 boys playing competitive rugby again in an inter school’s competition.

The year 7, 8 and 9 rugby tournaments are taking place just after the Easter holidays.
