The Bay CE School

World Book Day

Our school community came together today to celebrate World Book Day.

We had Harry Potter, Gigantosaurus, 101 dalmatians, Gangsta Granny to Matilda and many more! We are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm from pupils and from staff.

World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. Reading for pleasure gives children the opportunity to use their imagination to explore new ideas, visit new places and meet new characters. It helps improves their well-being and empathy. It helps them to understand their own identity, and gives them an insight into the world and the views of others.

Dr Seuss once said,

You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.

Please encourage your children to read for pleasure and develop their love of reading.

Mrs Wilson, English Lead said

World Book Day has been an extra opportunity to give children time to read for pleasure and share in the joy of books.  Reading is extremely beneficial, both in terms of academic progress and mental health, and to see the joy days such as today brings to all of the children is absolutely fantastic. We have seen some imaginative costumes and creations, and, most importantly, the children have enjoyed reading a range of books!
