Catering Menu
School Meals
Our School catering provider is Chartwells.
At The Bay C of E School we offer a healthy school dinner menu prepared fresh at school each day by our wonderful school cooks.
Each day, there is a choice of two meals plus pudding and salad bar. We follow a three-week rolling menu. When your child starts at The Bay CE School, they will be entitled to a free hot school meal, right through to Year 2. The cost of a cooked school meal is £2.60 per day (primary) and £2.97 per day (secondary) payable for children in key stage 2, 3 and 4.
To find out if you are entitled to free school meals for your child, please contact The Isle of Wight Council or click here https://www.iow.gov.uk/Council/OtherServices/Free-School-Meals/Key-Stage-1-and-2.
If you prefer to send a packed lunch in for your child, please avoid sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks and opt for healthy alternatives.
Mid-Morning snack
Children can bring fruit into school each day to have during morning break time. A variety of free fruits and vegetables are provided each day for Reception and KS1.
Autumn 2023 Menu
Prices (Secondary)

Price increase for September 2023
Like all UK businesses, Chartwells are currently experiencing significant inflationary pressures. As has been widely reported in the media, these pressures have particularly impacted the price of food.
Chartwells have been working hard over recent months to absorb these costs through menu changes and negotiating with our suppliers.
However, with inflation continuing to rise, we are now required to increase the price of the meal served at your child’s school to £2.60 (primary) and £2.97 (secondary) from September 2023.
All menus will continue to provide children a choice of nutritious and delicious meals, while complying with the Government’s nutritional guidelines, and catering for those with allergies.
We want to assure you that the decision to take this action was not taken lightly. We will always continue to do all that we can to provide you the best possible value for money.
Polite reminder for parents and carers of the current Year 2 children who will be Year 3 in September: Previously your child qualified for a universal free school meal. However, from September 2023 when your child moves to Year 3, you will need to pay for school dinners, unless your child is entitled to free school meals.
