Thursday 25 May 2023 Cricket Festival On Thursday before half term, some of the KS2 children got an opportunity to take part in a cricket festival at Shanklin & Godshill Cricket Club. In the morning, some Year 3/4s did a circuit of different activities that focused on the key skills in cricket; batting, bowling, overarm throwing, and running. The children said their favourite game was ‘Brilliant bowler’, where they tried to see how many times they could bowl and hit the stumps.

Thursday 18 May 2023 Cross Country On Thursday afternoon, children from across KS2 took part in the East Wight Cross Country competition at Bembridge’s Steyne Park. It was a truly wonderful event with The Bay not only showing off their running talent, but their team spirit. Throughout each race, which was 2 laps of a 500m track, the team’s support for one another was amazing, and this helped to push the runners on to try their very best. In their races, all of the children showed real resilience, even when starting to tire, and in the relays they all worked collaboratively as a team.

Thursday 20 April 2023 U10 Cup Champions After the success of winning the league, the U10’s played Gurnard in the Cup final on Thursday afternoon. Having played Gurnard last year, the boys knew they were strong opposition. Both teams started well, and were very evenly matched throughout the game. Callum had an opportunity in the opening minutes to sneak the ball in at the far post but it went just wide, this was followed by Max making a terrific save when their striker was through 1v1. Bobby saw a shot go wide of the post, and as the boys went into the second half the Gurnard goalkeeper made a brilliant double save after Tony followed in Kian’s shot. Tony saw two headers go just over the bar from two corners deep into the second half. The match ended 0-0, and saw the boys go into extra time. The Bay kept working hard, the goals just wouldn’t come, Callum saw another opportunity go just wide, and with seconds before the final whistle Kian’s shot was saved. The match ended 0-0 after extra time, meaning T

Friday 3 March 2023 U10 Boys League After securing their place in the final of the cup, the U10 boys looked to do the same in the league. They played Nine Acres at home in the semi final of the league. The game started well, with the boys having a lot of the ball. After continued pressure from Callum, he managed to get the ball back deep into their half, and played a lovely ball for Kian to put in the back of the net. Callum got his opportunity to score only minutes later after Tony sent a great ball through to him. Right at the end of the first half the Nine Acres keeper made two fantastic saves. Into the second half, The Bay had a corner that Isaac headed beautifully just over the keepers head. After beginning to tire towards the end of the game, Nine Acres scored a rocket, to finish the game 3-1. The Bay are through to the league final - Good Luck boys!

Thursday 2 February 2023 U9 girls football On Tuesday, the U9 girls played their first game of the season at home to Newport. The girls settled into the game really quickly, and worked hard to attack the Newport goal. Towards the end of the first half, Neve scored a fantastic goal from the halfway line. In the second half, the girls continued to improve, with some great passes and a few brilliant shots on target. Neve found the net again with another great strike from the halfway line. As the girls started to tire, Newport did find the back of the net. This didn’t stop the girls working hard and holding on to win the match 2-1. The girls will go through to the quarter finals as group winners.
