Headteacher (Secondary)

I am delighted to welcome you to The Bay, a happy, vibrant and inclusive Church of England school where every young person is known, valued and supported to flourish in the best way they can; both as individuals and as part of our school community.
At The Bay, we believe that every student can succeed. We take pride in being a school where inclusion runs through every aspect of our work – from our curriculum design and pastoral care to our relationships and daily practice. As a relatively small secondary cohort, we are able to take a genuinely personal interest in the achievement, well-being and individual needs of each student, ensuring that all are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our Christian values of respect, kindness, courage and trust underpin everything we do. These values shape our relationships, our expectations and our approach to learning, helping our students to grow into thoughtful, compassionate and responsible young people who are well prepared for life beyond school. We encourage our students to treat one another with dignity, to show courage in their learning, to act with kindness in their community and to build trusting relationships with peers and adults alike.
Our motto, ‘Believe, Inspire and Excel’, is central to our philosophy. We are relentless in our pursuit of high standards and ambitious outcomes for all learners. We believe in nurturing aspiration and developing both evident and sometimes hidden talents, enabling every student to make strong progress and succeed academically, while also developing spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.
We talk a great deal about ‘Team Bay’. This reflects our strong sense of togetherness and shared responsibility. As a community, we hold high expectations for behaviour, learning and conduct; we are committed to positive relationships; and we share a genuine pride in our school and its wider community. Our students understand that being part of Team Bay means supporting one another, celebrating success and striving for excellence together.
Our personalised curriculum is carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of our learners and is enriched through a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, community and charitable work, local and national competitions, and a thriving House system. These experiences encourage leadership, teamwork and personal growth, enabling students of all ages to work collaboratively and develop confidence beyond the classroom.
We want every child at The Bay to enjoy learning, feel safe and supported, and leave us as articulate, confident and respectful members of society who live out our values in all that they do.
Our website offers a snapshot of our ethos and daily life, but nothing compares to seeing The Bay in action. I warmly encourage you to arrange a visit. Our students are our greatest ambassadors and would be delighted to show you around and share what makes our school such a special place.
I very much look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Team Bay.
