Last Friday night saw the second game for our U9 girls’ team away against Gurnard. As soon as the whistle blew the opposition took the ball and scored a few past us. They had a super striker who very quickly managed to put the ball in the back of our net several times. The girls were not phased though and once we had rearranged our players, and tried some different tactics we came at them time and time again. Our girls dominated the second half of the game, managed to close down their strikers and had several shots on goal. After a few good saves from their goalkeeper we managed to get the ball into the back of the net twice to finish the game 5-2. If the game had continued for a few more minutes we would have clawed back a few more but unfortunately the whistle went just when we were on a roll.
The girls were all absolutely brilliant and kept working and supporting each other the whole time. Every game they get better and better. Our next game is away at Carisbrooke Primary School on Friday so fingers crossed we will start that game the same as we finished this one. Well done girls!
