Our ‘Standing Together for Peace’ project, which was held on International Holocaust Memorial Day was a great success. The children took part in a 75 candle art project to mark the 75 years since the liberation of the Jewish people in Auschwitz.
Throughout the school we talked about the need for tolerance and respect and the older children learnt about Anne Frank, Hedy Klein and Irena Sendler. Children sang a ‘standing together’ song and could join in with the Holocaust Memorial Day Prayer if they wished to do so. Peace pebbles, doves, sunflowers and footprints have been created.
Look out for examples of the children’s work which will be displayed around the school.
