On Thursday, 17 boys and girls from Year 5 and 6 travelled to the secondary site to play a competitive football match. This gave 9 boys the opportunity to represent the school at football for the first time this year and they did it brilliantly! It was also a chance for the girls to continue to develop and play as a team with a different type of challenge. Both teams started quickly with the girls having control of the ball for the first 5 minutes. Soon after, the boys grew into the game and began to dominate with 1 more player in midfield making a difference. The girls defence stood strong as it has all year and the boys found it hard to make any clear chances. Half-time 0-0. The second half started very similar with the girls finding it difficult to get through the middle with all the boys quick to make tackles at every chance. As the game went on, every player continued to run and work hard for their team to try and get the winning goal but in the end, the game finished 0-0. Both teams shook hands and agreed a draw was a fair result whilst being clapped off by their family/friends who were pleased to watch such an enjoyable game. Well done to everyone involved in this game, you should all be very happy and proud of yourselves!
