Prior to lockdown, we were planning on having a Careers Event in the summer term. This was planned as part of our PSHE work, to familiarise our pupils with a range of careers that they may aspire to in the future. Unfortunately, we are unable to hold this in school at the present time so we are holding a virtual Careers Event instead! We have several local people who have kindly made short videos about their careers to share with our children (click here to view them). These are found in the Careers Event folder on the portal so please do share with your child. There are also some links to websites, where clips about a variety of different careers can be found.
We would like to showcase as many different careers as possible and now need your help! We are asking the children to see if they have a family member/friend who would be willing to answer 4 interview questions for them about their job. You could ask the person to record themselves answering the questions and send it to us, like the examples already on our portal. Please email any videos to the school office by Monday 1st June 2020. Alternatively, your child could ask the questions over the phone and record the answers in a PowerPoint or word document that could also be sent to us. Please make sure the person being interviewed gives permission for this information to be shared on our portal and their employer has also given permission if their place of work is named.
We would like the children to ask 4 main questions:
- What job do you do?
- Can you tell us about a typical day in your job?
- What training and/or qualifications do you need to do this job?
- What is your favourite part of the job?
If you have any questions please ask via your portal or call the school office and I will get back to you.
I look forward to seeing your presentations.
