Summer Reading Challenge

Summer Reading Challenge 2000 2000 The Bay CE Primary School

The Summer Reading Challenge is back. Click on the video below for more information.

The theme this year is Wild World Heroes, and it’s all about improving your community for the benefit of people and wildlife.

The children register at the library from July 19th (20th at Sandown as we don’t open on Monday), they get a welcome poster and we explain that they should read six books before they return to school. They can rate their books on the poster, and collect stickers and free gifts as they progress. Finally, on completion, they receive a medal and a certificate.

It appeals mostly to children aged 5 to 12, but we have special packs for under 4’s, as being read to counts as well. They can start the challenge at any time during the holidays.

The only difference this year is we do not have the wall chart up, because it took quite a lot of time for the children to find their names and add a spot for every book they read. We don’t have registration forms to fill out either, again to save time and contact.
