Year 3

A very warm welcome to Year 3!

In year 3, we have two class teachers:  Miss Renouf and Mrs Parsons.  The classrooms are wonderfully supported by the expertise of both Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Holmes.  Mrs Hellyer and Miss Williams provide specific Learning Support.  All staff within year 3 work together to support the children with their academic and pastoral care, in our holistic learning environment.

A range of topics are covered in the Learning Experience element of our curriculum, including; The Stone Age, The Romans and Quentin Blake.  These are explored through History, Geography and Art.  In addition to these, we link our learning experience to our English learning, creating a rich cross-curriculum link.  These topics will also be supported by school trips throughout the year.

Year 3 represents a very important year for the children, making the transition from key stage 1 to key stage 2.  Children are supported in their continued personal development and gently prepared for the more formal elements of learning that continue throughout their schooling. We take pride in providing them with the physical and emotional tools for this. However, there is still plenty of opportunity for the fun elements of practical learning, seeing both Science and Maths as real and relevant subjects, using concrete objects to bring our subjects to life.
