At The Bay CE Primary, we teach the curriculum in a way that enables lessons to immerse the children in a memorable and enjoyable way.  Our curriculum teaches the children through a number of learning experiences over the year, which develop the children’s natural inquisitiveness. We aim (where possible) to involve the local community, parents/grandparents and visitors. This may be by being invited to a Mother’s/Father’s Day tea, exhibitions or presentations.

Our curriculum is planned and sequenced so that new knowledge and skills build on what has been taught before and work towards its clearly defined end points. Our aim is to provide the knowledge and skills that pupils need in order to take advantage of opportunities, responsibilities and experiences in later life, allowing them to develop into life-long learners.

Experiences include an intriguing title and an initial ‘hook’. Some examples are: ‘Terrific Toys’ in KS1; ‘The Rocky Romans’ in lower Key Stage 2 and ‘The Groovy Greeks’ in upper Key Stage 2.

There are also occasions throughout the year when the whole school undertake a joint experience. An example of this is World Maths Day and World Book Day, as well as special celebrations such as the Royal Wedding or the anniversary of significant events.

Please take the opportunity to talk to your child about their learning and we look forward to you joining us for events where the children will share their work. For more information about what’s happening in your child’s class, please consult the termly newsletter.
