Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education is a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives now and in the future. These skills and attributes help pupils to stay healthy, safe and prepare them for life. A growing body of research shows that pupils who are emotionally healthy do better at school. PSHE education helps children and young people to achieve their potential by supporting their wellbeing and tackling issues that can affect their ability to learn.
We have recently introduced a new PSHE resource -SCARF- which we are using alongside the SEAL and the Hampshire scheme and resources.
Safety – Caring – Achievement – Resilience – Friendship.
Each year group has a theme for the half term and lessons involve circle times, class and group discussions or individual work. The year 1 children have enjoyed learning about Harold and his toy giraffe Geoffrey this term. They have been learning about keeping safe.

Anti-Bullying Week – November 2019
In November we took part in Anti-Bullying Week. The theme for 2019 was “Change starts with us.” We took part in lots of activities to help us understand what bullying is and what we do if someone is being bullied. Smoothie Bike
Recently Year 1 had a visit from the smoothie bike. Nicky Metcalfe from Active travel brought a bike to school that made smoothies and slushies. First we had to put lots of fruit into a blender with milk and ice-cream and then to mix it up we all had a turn to pedal the bike. After we had tasted the smoothie, we put fruit and orange juice into the blender and pedalled to make a fruit slushie. We really enjoyed making smoothies to help us learn about healthy eating choices.
