At The Bay, we have a shared commitment to ensuring that our teaching and learning enables pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes and experience a rich, challenging and relevant curriculum. As a school, we recognise that education involves a number of stakeholders and that all should work closely together to support the process of learning. Working in partnership with staff, pupils, parents, governors and the wider community, we aim to provide high quality learning experiences within all that we do: in the curriculum, in the school environment and in the interactions between all members of our community. We believe that we teach the children through all that we do: through the implementation of the policies, systems and practice that determine the curriculum and school day. At the Bay, teaching and learning is never viewed as an isolated activity that happens within the classroom.
We aim to ensure that teaching and learning provides the following:
• a supportive, caring and safe environment, which has high expectations and values all members of our school community
• recognises the needs and aspirations of all learners and provide opportunities for all pupils to make expected or accelerated progress
• immerse pupils in a curriculum which develops literate, numerate and technologically competent individuals
• provide rich and varied contexts and experiences for pupils to acquire, develop and apply a broad range of knowledge, skills and understanding
• promote the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, physical, mental and emotional development of all pupils
• develop resilient individuals who embrace challenge
• develop children’s confidence and capacity to learn and work independently and collaboratively
• develop and promote the core Christian values of our school: Love, Courage Truth, Respect and Friendship
• encourage children to respond positively to the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of a rapidly changing world
• encourage children to value the diversity in our society and the environment in which they live
