Head of School (Secondary)

At The Bay CE School (Secondary) we believe that every child can be inspired to excel and flourish given the right environment, support and challenge.

As a relatively small school, we are able to take a personal interest in the achievement and well-being of every individual. As a dedicated staff body we are committed to working determinedly to continue to develop the quality of teaching and learning in order to improve the academic outcomes and life chances for all our students. The continuing professional development of staff and giving a voice to all students is central to ensuring that we support all students to excel in their studies.

We talk a lot about ‘Team Bay’. This is founded on a culture of togetherness: we share high standards and high expectations of everyone; we share a commitment to building positive relationships; we share a passion for our community; and we share an unapologetic belief that we can all excel and succeed. As a team, we care about one another and have a true sense of community. By meeting our students at the gate every morning and saying goodbye each evening, we are modelling that we care. This is just one of a number of ways that we show the students that we care about each of them as individuals. We care about their safety, their happiness and their future aspirations.

At the core of my approach to leadership is communication. I will communicate openly and honestly with students, parents and staff in order to build an environment of trust. This, coupled with a commitment to provide a curriculum that develops knowledge, understanding, skills, attributes and attitudes that are necessary for every individual to flourish, we will enable our students to develop as successful lifelong learners.

We have high standards of uniform and behaviour at The Bay CE School; by all of our school body embracing this we will ensure that there is a consistency that allows a strong culture for learning to develop. It is only through this collaborative approach that we will truly fulfil our motto of inspiring every member of our school community to believe that they can, and therefore will, excel.

We are at the start of a great journey and I look forward to working alongside you to continue on our path to becoming the school that offers a
strength of pastoral care, a breadth of extra-curricular offers that broaden horizons, and fantastic academic outcomes that will open many doors for all in the future.

The Bay CE School (Secondary) is a very special place and this website will only give a flavour of this. If you are a prospective family or wish to work here, I actively encourage you to visit us. Our students are our best ambassadors and they would love to show you around and give you a much better sense of why we are so proud of our school.

I very much look forward to meeting you.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS

Where will my child enter and exit the school?

Each year group has a separate entrance and exit route to and from the school site:

  • Year 7: Sports Hall entrance
  • Year 8: Walkway by the top car park
  • Year 9: Side of the Lecture Theatre
  • Year 10: Entrance by the Staff Room
  • Year 11: Blue gates

Please can parents avoid parking in the staff allocated parking areas when dropping off/picking up children from school. (These car parks will be identified by cones at the entrance/exits)  This also includes parking on the field opposite which is not permitted.

We would kindly ask that if you need to come onto school site, you use the large parking area behind the sports hall at the bottom of the fairway, next to the running track. This also allows children a safe walking route from the car park onto the school site. and to their allocated year zone entrances.   At home time, please meet your child at the front of school, near the pedestrian crossing, where they are dismissed by their class teachers.

Your co-operation is appreciated as we work together to keep everyone safe.

Timing of the School Day

For all year groups *

  • Monday - 8:35am – 2pm
  • Tuesday – Friday 8:35am – 3pm

Face Coverings

Please be advised that the wearing of face masks/ face coverings on public services is mandatory and applies to all school buses, public buses and trains.  Please support us by ensuring that your child has a face mask if they are using any of the transport links mentioned above and help to keep us all safe.

Where possible, we ask that students and staff wear a face mask when in indoor communal areas in
a large group.

If all parent/carers are able to ensure that their child has a face mask (multiple use) with them at
school each day it would be very beneficial to us in enabling a smooth transition back for all. If
either, you are unable to access a face mask, or there is a reason for your child not to wear one,
please contact your child’s Year Manager.
