Kathryn Grimes from The Wight Brainy Bunch visited The Bay CE School on Friday 28th February to collect a cheque for £1513.66 raised for the charity on Blue House Community Day.
Blue House Community Day took place on Friday 13th December. Students in Blue House chose to fundraise for ‘The Wight Brainy Bunch.’ The charity provides support and financial assistance to Isle of Wight families who have a loved one suffering from a brain tumour. This is a charity very close to the hearts of students and staff as one of the Year 10 students is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.
The Blue House student council worked tirelessly to plan the day. There was a non uniform day, Christmas cookie bake-off and sale, a huge raffle and Christmas Fayre stalls. The day ended with over 100 students and staff taking part in Blue House Quiz.
Mr Bricknell, Head of Blue House said
“I am really proud of the Blue House Student Council for all of their hard work and commitment to making the community day so successful. We are delighted to have raised so much money for such a worthy charity. The local community supported the event and donated lots of fantastic raffle prizes which alongside our fundraising activities helped us raise a considerable amount of money to help island families while they are going through a tough time.”
Kathryn Grimes from The Wight Brainy Bunch Charity said:
“What a wonderful bunch of students, working together to raise money and awareness of our little charity. So thoughtless and selfless. Thank you all so very much.”
